This municipality is one of the most attractive in Cantabria thanks to its geographical particularities. Potes is a flat territory surrounded by mountains where the powerful houses of the Mendoza and the Manrique developed their medieval struggles. The town of Potes, capital of the small municipality, is located in the center of the Liébana region, where the Deva and Quiviesa rivers meet. Surrounded by a spectacular landscape and located at the confluence of the four valleys of the Region, the town reveals its rich history to us at every step. Potes is known as the town of bridges (hence its name) and towers. Of special note are those of Infantado (today the headquarters of exhibitions) and Orejón de la Lama, both from the 15th century.
